1) What Are Dentures?

Dentures are custom-made prosthetic teeth that restore your smile, bite and confidence after tooth loss. Modern dentures combine precise clinical records with advanced lab craftsmanship to create a natural look and comfortable fit. At Smiles Better, our Clinical Dental Technicians (CDTs) handle both the chairside care and the technical artistry in our on-site lab, so adjustments and styling happen in real time for a result that truly feels like you.

2) Full Dentures

Full (complete) dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They rely on a careful impression technique, accurate jaw relationship records and detailed gum contouring to improve suction, stability and comfort—especially for upper dentures. In the UK, you can see a CDT directly for full dentures. We personalise tooth shape, shade and smile line to suit your features, then fine-tune fit and speech at every stage, including wax try-ins before final finishing.

 3) Partial Dentures

Partial dentures replace one or several missing teeth while working around your natural teeth. Designs range from slim, cobalt-chrome frameworks to lightweight acrylics, chosen for strength, hygiene and aesthetics. Because partials must protect your remaining teeth and gums, CDTs collaborate with your dentist for an oral health check and a safe design. The goal is a stable, easy-to-clean restoration that restores chewing and prevents neighbouring teeth from drifting.

 4) Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures snap onto small titanium implants placed in the jaw, offering outstanding stability—especially for lower dentures. With reduced movement, you can enjoy a wider range of foods, clearer speech and, for uppers, often a more open palate for better taste. Your CDT crafts the prosthesis and attachments (e.g., locator studs or a slim bar) in partnership with an implant dentist for a secure, serviceable solution.

5)  Flexible Dentures

Flexible dentures (such as nylon-based options) are typically used for partial dentures, offering a comfortable, metal-free appearance. They’re not suitable as full dentures—flexible full dentures don’t exist—because full arches require a more rigid base for support, stability and long-term fit. We’ll advise when flexible is appropriate and when a chrome or acrylic design will serve you better.
